A delegation from the Overseas Investors Chamber of Commerce & Industry (OICCI), led by Secretary General M Abdul Aleem, met with Sindh Inspector General of Police (IGP) Ghulam Nabi Memon at the Central Police Office (CPO) to discuss key issues affecting the business community.
The discussion covered parking challenges, NOC procedures for foreign guests, security measures, and overall business safety. Senior police officials provided updates, with the AIG Operations Sindh briefing the delegation on law enforcement efforts and the DIG Traffic Karachi outlining initiatives to address traffic concerns.
OICCI members highlighted challenges such as delays in the NOC process and the absence of clear security protocol guidelines for foreign investors. However, they also acknowledged the Sindh Police’s progress in improving the driving license issuance process.
IGP Memon reaffirmed the importance of security cooperation between law enforcement and the business community, emphasizing that incidents involving foreign nationals create vulnerabilities for both parties. To enhance clarity on security measures, he announced that the DIG Special Protection Unit (SPU) would visit the OICCI chamber to further explain protocols.
He also welcomed OICCI’s feedback on security gaps, reiterating that Karachi’s crime rate remains lower than other major cities. The IGP further emphasized the crucial role of public cooperation in effective policing and assured ongoing support to facilitate a secure business environment.
